Welcome to the Vein Mountain Recreational Miners Club

PictureFrom the desk of Doug:
I hope that each one of you enjoyed this mining season and that you found time to get out in the water and into the Brackettown property this summer. For those that have not yet heard we have more river to work this year. You can go from the Lucky Strike all the way up to the old railroad trestle, but just remember, no further up than the trestle and PLEASE do not disturb, in any way, the trees and plant life if you wish to keep the privilege of more creek to work. We would like to welcome all the new members that have joined our club lately. You could not find a better club to join and, yes, I do say that with some prejudice because we do have a great group of miners! If you are coming by, stop by and see all the work that is happening on our clubhouse, hopefully this winter we will get to complete the kitchen won't that be wonderful ladies? If you have not been able to come by and participate in the VMRC digs this year, we hope that you will be able to get some time in this next year.

The NC Gold Festival, which is always held the 1st weekend in June, at Lucky Strike Gold Mine, Marion, NC is a very popular fesival. Folks from many different states came to help us celebrate! Everything you ever wanted to know about gold can be found at our Gold Festival every year!!

Some points to ponder:
NC was the FIRST state to find gold
There were as many as 3000 miners working here in the Vein MT mines.
Only about 10% of the world's gold has ever been recovered.
There are 33 gold-bearing veins crossing the Second Broad River in a quarter mile range here.
Recreational Gold mining is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the US.
There are over 300 different gems and minerals in NC.
NC is the home of the famous and very rare Hiddenite gem.
The largest Emerald ever found In North America was found in NC.

Come and visit the "TREASURE CHEST" of the nation!

We are so thankful for the wonderful members of the VMRC and feel that we hve been truly blessed to know each one of you. We hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas and GOD's many blessings upon you through the new year, may all your pans come up golden, your wallets decorated with lots of green and your hearts full of love.

May all your pans be Golden!
